Hrmm....what should I do?

OK here is the situation. I have a 91 Civic HB Si. It has a R33 front bumper with Z3 fenders molded together, type M carbonfiber hood, 17" gunemetal racing rims (soon to have some Rotas), painted hugger orange with metal flake, crx console swap.

Going in is: A "new" Si tranny, new stage 2 Xtd clutch kit, d16Y8 bored .020 over with JE 10.5:1 c/r pistons and eagle rods, with a port and polished head (soon to have a delta 272 cam), Moroso plug wires, MSD ignition, DC 4-2-1 header, akimoto racing sport short ram, and some time within the next six months a small turbo kit or nitrous.

Ok sorry for all that...anyways my point is I don't want this to be my daily driver. 1) Gas mileage is going to go way down 2) I want to keep miles off of the "good" motor. Also a friend knows someone with a 99 DX hatch with 99k on it, but less on motor because he is taking out the LS/Vtec to sell it, he wants 4k for it basically stock. So I am faced with a few options. Just vote what you would do and tell why if you would.

P.S. My mom wants to buy me a new car (wants me to have something with a warranty), but hate to put a bunch of miles on it. I drive 64 miles round trip 5 days a week to work.

The Si obviously won't be your daily driver, it's your tuner car and should be your quarter-mile-killer :)

Will your friend include the stock DX engine in the other car when he takes the LS/Vtec out? I'm sorry but i say screw the new car/warranty stuff. The money spent on a new car could be put into an older honda and be just as reliable for a lot cheaper. Sure you get the warranty, but it only last so long, and things usually start to wear and tear after the warranty is long gone.

And why do all the options on the poll include buying a new car? If your mom is paying for it, then by all means let her buy one! But if you're paying for it, screw the new car idea, and go with an older honda.

I would go with:
"91 Si, 99 Dx as daily, wait for the car I want to come out summer." But i'd keep the 99 till it dies, and by the time it does, better new cars will be out :)

The reason they all same something about anew car is because my mom wants me to have one. Our van crapped out, crown vic is starting to leak a little oil, my honda is in the middle of a motor swap (she says I should just get rid of it because I will never get the money out that I am putting in, she just doesn't understand), and out Bonneville is making a strage knocking noise that seems to be coming from the balancer. Oh and we have a 64 Impala that needs body restoration, motor is already rebuilt.

So you see all the cars seem to have problems....the first to are obvious because they are Fords. She is going to get rid of them and buy her a Chevy Equinox. She also wants me to have a new car so she is going to buy me one. I am thinking either the Cobalt 2 door, Scion Xb, or waiting till summer and getting the new Eclipse. The new Eclipse just look hot to me.

if i ever get the 93 teg sold and the 97 off to be fixed i'll be saying my beater is a 97 GS teg and my pride is an 89 :ylsuper:

actually, that sparked the idea of plate frames that read "i'd rather be driving my 88-91 Civic"...i should look into that.

my dad is always telling me my car is worthless because i "can't drive it anywhere". i have to remind him i can drive it anywhere however, after the money i have sunk in to it i'm not going to just drive it anywhwere. like a 1100mi road trip to go visit family...that is a daily beater kinda road trip. then he tells me it must be nice to be able to afford a car i don't drive. so then i get to remind him i have never had a car payment. it has taken me 4 years of dropping money here and there. it's not like i went out and signed for a bmw i have to send a monthly payment out to.

if you want to have a nice 4th gen civic it's pretty much a must to have another car for a daily driver. it takes a lot of work to make a civic nice....daily driving = daily wear and tear. so unless you want to redo all the work to the 4th gen, you really should consider a daily beater.
