I currently own a pontiac but I have been looking at a 2000/2001 740i sport. I was wondering what types of things should I look for as far as mechanical problems? Also most of the ones I have seen have close to 100,000 miles on them. Is that alot for this type of car?

I would take a chance after all owning a BMW puts you on a different level of driving experience, security and persona. Anyway purchased a 1988 325i Conv. two years ago replace the top 600$ and brakes plus tires 600$ with autobav.com bavarian able to get the BMW front and back badge 24$ car rans like a champ and looks good.

Had owned older models Jaguar's and VW by far BMW's are best of the best in class and quality even though now I picked up 1988 735il 2Grand two weeks ago and its making rumble and growling sounds just happened today but that is expected minor set back. its based on luck I guess but you must invest on carfax.com 24 dollars and see what the car you desire went through its life existance.

Good luck hope you get a BMW handles like a dream and I have a stang supped up with all the bells and wistles 5K upgrade. I will drive a BMW any day on this winter weather Antartic feeling.

I hope that my issue with my new 735il be noticed by AF guru's to give me a path to get it back on the road 100% I figure I'll drop another 3K to achieve my goal and this car is not mine its for my son's that will start college this year remember when you where younger hoping to have a classy car they will experience that after I revive the 735iL.

www.e38.org has some things to look for. There's lots of internet help for the BMWs.
