Mod question

G35turbo

Hi

I read the faq and read the 3si thing. I want to get some more mods. Right now i have stillen downpipe, ACT clutch, Greddy Boost controller, Greddy turbo timer, intake, boost and a/f gauge, at 14psi. Now i want to know what i need to do for my next upgrade without getting aftermarket turbos and intercooler. Nothing that would cost me more than about 1200 bucks all together. I am thinking going with 255 walbro fuel pump. Eclipse turbo used 450cc or RC 550cc injectors, fuel rails, apexi a/f controller. And on 3si.org it says that those upgrades will give me 25 to 35+hp. But i was wondering if anybody nows what psi is that. Is that just 14 psi or is it higher. Would you guys recommaned pulleys. and can i raise my psi with dose fuel upgrades or do u guys think its just a better idea not to do it because of the stock turbos. Would i guys recommaned anyother kind of mods that i can get. HOW MUCH HP dose those fuel upgrades will give me at 14psi.

Well, you have 2 main things to consider when setting boost on stock turbos:
1) You don't want to knock, ie, run too lean
2) Your stock 9b turbos can only hold 10psi to redline, and on top of that, if you raise it too much, they are just blowing hot air...

So what does this mean...well pretty much every car is different after 14psi. The mods on 3si, and every other mod guide don't list boost settings because every car will have different limitations once you get into more than BPU.

So it will more or less be a trial and error process in tuning, that you are going to have to go through and find what works best for you.

As far as what to get, my suggestions:

1: Datalogger, if you are turning the boost up any more YOU NEED THIS...it will save your engine. This will give you alot of great info that will allow you to safe tune and turn up the boost without blowing a rod or piston.

2. Next, you need to decide whether you are going to go with multiple piggyback electronics or a new ECU like the AEM EMS. With the price you mentioned, I assume you are thinking piggybacks...so get an A/F controller.

3. Get the fuel pump, hotwire kit for the fuel pump, get the injectors, and fuel rails. These wont give you much if any extra hp at 14psi, however they allow you to turn up the boost, which does give you more power. Also once you have all that, you will be set for a future turbo upgrade.

I wouldn't do pulleys, underdrive pulleys are questionable...check out stealth316, there are a few links to the underdrive pulley debate, that will explain both sides of the argument (if you aren't familiar with it).

Also make sure your car is in good working order, ie tuneup stuff if needed.

Igovert, what about simply lightened pulley instead of underdrive? (lightened but stock size like the one 3SX sells)

No reason at all to upgrade the fuel rails, maybe the connection from one to the other, but not the rails themselves.

i have the 3sx pulley, i've never had any issues with it, it works great.
