98 GTP question

Hi,
I have a question and I was hoping you guys could help me. The stock cd player in my GTP has stopped playing certain cds. Sometimes it will play and sometimes it won't. I was planning on putting an aftermarket cd player in it anyway sometime soon, so this wasn't such a disaster.
I have a friend who does custom stereo installation and was told that if I purchased an aftermarket cd player it was nearly impossible to hook it up in a way that I could still use the cd player/radio control buttons on my steering wheel to control the cd player. I absolutely refuse to accept this. Is this true, or is there a way to get around it? Thanks.

They make an interface that will work with infrared head units with almost all vehicles with steering wheel or rear seat controls!

You might want to start buying them else where ,since I know of a place that sells the SWI-X for 57 bucks.
