Transmission Temperature

I have a 1988 K3500 5.7L TBI V8. TH-400 Transmission.

Installed a cyberdyne tranny oil gauge with sender located in the oil pan. Did not use the purple wire that dims the gauge when the lights are on. Also installed Painless wiring light kit that allows low and high beams on when the high beams are selected. Also have a Derale tranny cooler mounted in front of the radiator near the headlights.

Interesting problem is that when my high beams are on, the tranny temp gauge will quickly rise to 200+ degrees. If I go back to low beams only, the tranny temp falls down to less than 190 degrees.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?
Thanks
Mike

sounds like you have some screwy wiring going on there...........

Where are you getting power for the temp sensor? You may need to find another source since the headlights (brights) are probably on the same circuit.
