any opinions on the general industry wisdom that says Subarus are safe whereas the Neon is a very bad car to be in if someone runs into you?
i am really wanting a light car, and the WRX Impreza is heavier than i wanted to go. But the facts and figures i see about crash tests for the Dodge are not encouraging.
even the best and luckiest drivers get hit by morons sometimes, and i'd rather not lose a leg.
has anyone else looked into this?

What about the new Cobalt SS...or the Saturn Ion Redline...0-60 in 6.1 seconds...so not that much slower than the SRT4...but you know Saturn's are safe...

Thanks Nissanspdr! in the few years i've been here i have noticed that you are always ready with good advice.
In fact i was considering the cobalt, but then decided i wanted something lighter. probably not going to get a new car after all. not just the payments, but can't find anything small and fun enough.
i will probably still test drive an Ion, but i don't have high hopes.
i think i'll drive down south and just buy a less rusty '91-'93 SE-R. i seriously can't seem to find a better sleeper with low weight and good torque. do you know of any contenders?
my '92 Nissan Sentra SE-R weighs about 2400, has 132 hp & 140 tq... and after weeks of research i *cannot* find anything that beats it for the price.
prove me wrong if you can!
you have surprised me before! speak now if you have any wise words.
please let me know if you have any better ideas before i unleash all my southern pals to seek out a car worth me buying a one-way plane ticket...

Dont come here and brag about your sentra and your unequable torque...
My car weighs the same as yours, has a shitload less torque and fucks a sentra real bad. Torque means shit if other factors are not considered, learn that.
