I did a custom job in my truck.
I wired up a 200W amp to the stock front/rear speakers, and another 300W amp to a sub in the back. I spliced some RCA's together, and use my MP3 player with a headphone jack to the amps.
I can rock it pretty loud, with little or no distortion whatsoever. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Mind you, since, I've put another box with 2 6x6", and 2 1" speakers in it in line with the stock speakers in the back of the truck.
Still, unless you want REALLY LOUD, you will be fine.

Just don't push past the point of distortion. If you go beyond that point more than likely they will blow, mine did.

I ALWAYS upgrade the stock speakers to aftermarket ones...only because if I change my head unit, the power output from those is considerably more and the strain will eventually distort the paper cones the stock speakers have...big difference in sound quality! Speakers are very important because what's the point of getting a nice aftermarket unit if you don't have drivers that can apply the power?
