Tranny Slips Sometimes!!!

Alright. I have an AT tranny on my 91 dx and say i'm going up a hill and let off the gas and then at a steep point press the gas again, it rev high then "catches" and will continue on fine. This happens anytime i let off the gas going up any hill then accelerate again. Its like it trys to catch up..like get back into gear..No grinding sounds and it shifts fine everytime else...the only time is gives me trouble is when i accelerate after letting off the gas going up a hill..Any suggestions?
P.S. Also just got the tranny fluid flushed and filled.

Yeah...it only happens when i'm on a hill and say someone stops in front of me...i'll slow down but if I press the gas again before it downshifts 2nd to 1st, it will rev high and then get back on track and continue on going. My fluid levels fine...no other problems beside that.

yucky i don't like to hear that...lol

i guess after 204k miles things need replacing hum :) my auto tranny hasn't done that lately, but if it does it constantly i think it'd be something to worry about and then it becomes dangerous also (like trying to pass someone or pulling out into traffic and you have no power to the wheels cuz tranny slippage)

yeah, get a rebuilt on. thats what its sounding like. Trans are full of many rings and those rings each have different teeth paterns, and if just one of those rings have worn away, it can cause slipping.

i have an AT trany that is in my dx, but i don't know if it's any good. i got the car when it was almost striped to nothing, (but for $50.00 you can say no.)

probably torque converter or clutch pack

since on the topic of Autos, what parts would need replacing to make it handle more hp? since it's going to get rebuilt anyway, might as well rebuild it to handle some boost :)

Tell me more about this torque converter. Had it looked at and thats what it seems to be. When is torque converter, how much, how hard to install on 1.5l?

stator inside t/c mabye locking up/not locking up. it is located between engine and tranny on flexplate (like where a clutch is on 5-speed)

when i was out today i listened as i put it from park to drive, and sometimes you can hear a big clunk...i better start pricing out some used transmissions soon, or pricing out a rebuild

This is a common problem in AUTO trannys. Check the fuilds if there full then do a filter change. Its cause from the pressure in the tranny dropping when your decelerating or letting off the gas pedal going up hill. The fluid then runs to the back of the tranny and has to build the pressure back up to ingauge.

When a torque converter messes up it's like a clutch tearing up only you can't just tighten the clutch cable like on a manual. Should be about as much as a clutch to install ??? Might actually be cheaper to just find a whole re-built auto tranny. GL

cjz89civic...i have an 89 hatch..1.5...u mentioned a filter change..but i was told mine doesn't have a filter....?????
