Installing an AEM Bypass Valve on a HotShot CAI

Has anyone done this? How is it done? And which is the right BPV? I'm guessing it involves cutting the cold air extension tubing and installing a 3" bypass valve. But there's no part listed on AEM's website for the SE-R. Help!?!?

I don't know about the AEM website but digitalracer.com sells them. I don't have one but from the looks of it you put the valve in between the main tube and the cold air extension tube. it looks that you just slide it in there and tighten the clamps. I think that's how you do. Could be wrong. Let me know how it goes.

That's where the MAF goes. In between the full stack intake tube and the cold air extension tube. The ABPV has its own couplers to hold it onto the tubing, so if you did it like that you'd have to put the coupler between the cold air extension tube and the MAF right on top of an ABPV coupler, which I doubt would fit or be secure. I think you have to cut out a section of the cold air extension piping and put the ABPV there. I dunno, that's just what I gather from looking at pictures. Your way sounds better to me because it doesn't involve cutting anything. HotShot's tubing is made out of metal, so cutting it could be tricky.

i hear you, its basically like a little puzzle, as long as you use the silicone/rubbers/clamps supplied, you can figure out this combination. but this is how its supposed to look.

on the left side of the BPV ive just removed the inner rubber seal, and clamped some black coloured silicone to it GENTLY!! its does hold onto the side of the BPV so you may not have to cut any extra piping to fit between ther BPV and MAF.....sort of.

Very cool, P11GT. Looks like it can be done with an extra silicone coupler from a hardware store and some ingenuity. So when all was said and done, you probably just had an extra coupler and clamp(from the left side of the BPV). It also looks like cutting the piping isn't necessary because you can just tweak the fitting of the pipe(possibly by cutting the right side of the black silicone coupler at an angle) so that it fits alright through the hole you cut in the framework. Am I right?

something like that, like you said, with a little enginuity, you can sort of guess what to do when the time comes.

What size AEM bypass valve should we purchase for the HS CAI?

Hey while were on the topic of hs c.a.i i was thinking of gettin in on a group buy but i herd you have to get a smaller battery for correct instalation of this thing. Is it possible just to only use the first tube and put the filter on that and have it end behind my battery? becuase i really dont wanna modify the battery part of my car.

G2002 - Does my battery look SMALL to you??? not all CAI require small batteries.

TRUE TRUE my mistake P11GT. Is the engine comartment around the battery different over in europe? Becuase I was lookin at mine and I dont see any room for that thing to get by, did urs just mount right in or did u have to do some handy work to make it fit?

There doesnt seem to be much room between the battery and expansion tank, but once you enlarge the hole for the mandrel bent pipe to pass into the inner arch, it fits in no problem undrneath the tank.
