E or DE?

im buying a 1990 240 sx hatchback soon, how do i know right away if its a ka24de or just a ka24e?

1990 are the ka24e. 1991-up are the ka24de. ka24e is sohc, ka24de is dohc.

Its the KA24e...take my word for it(unless its been swapped, unlikely). But you can look on the little metal tag thing in the engine bay. It should say KA24e. Along with maybe a parts ID or VIN or something else. I think its on the firewall near the top somewhere.

or you could look at the engine itself because they both look different.

1989-1990 were the E and 1991-1998 were the DE.
