Fuel Pump Run On

Here is my problem;

A couple of weeks ago the thing would not start, would crank fine but not start. Did some checking and Fuel pressure was low, replaced pressure regulator and things were fine.

Now it is doing the same thing again, with a twist.

After I crank it and it doesn't start the fuel pump will continue to run anywhere from 45 - 90 seconds after the key is turned off, now I know this is not normal, but do not know what is causing it to do it.

No I have not rechecked the fuel pressure again yet, as I have to borrow a guage.

Yes I also have ign switch issues that I will handle this weekend.

But why does the pump continue to run on?

Just a thought... In the glove box is your Fuel Pump relay. Maybe that's your problem? Cost $18.

Also, I would like to know more about your fuel regulator experience for future reference... And have you ever changed the fuel pump? My fuel pump is starting to wine.

The ignition switch is probably faulty and is probably not allowing the pump to turn off.

Check fuel pressure again.

If you go for the ignition switch approach, as Blazer LT always recommends, please let us know if this solved your problem.

BTW, I posted a thread on how to change it yourself. Ignition switches cost about $75 and will take you a couple hours doing it the first time. Good luck.
