I just pice up my 2005 silverado, and I hate it already. It looks lame, too many auto controled componets, don't like seats, the color sucks, lame navigation crap in the rear view mirror, ext cab is too big. I want my 98 Z71 back.

I hear you on the wanting your 98 back. Just curious, but did you test drive it before you bought it?

Indeed. Sounds like you ordered it sight unseen!

Never buy anything without a test drive/viewing. I'm having trouble understanding your complaint with the compass in the mirror and TOO BIG of an extended cab? If its too big, then why not just get a single cab?

Of course I saw it before I paid for it, I have to have something brand new...well lets see what have to choose from Chevy.. ugly, Ford...uglyer, Dodge..ugliest. Toyota..out of the question. Anyone want to tell which models i'm over looking? I wasn't asking for input, just blowing some steam from paying 37,000 on something I really dont care for.

Hey man I understand. Just thought it was funny. I'm starting to like the new Nissan Titans myself. But they don't seem quite as big as a full size truck.

I agree with Steve V, I love my 04 Ext Cab. I have never really owned a 98 or any full size truck for that matter, but my 04 seems great. I just hope it holds up for atleast 5 years. I had a 93 S-10 P/U up until 6 months ago as a second car and I loved that thing. I just wanted something bigger.
I'm sorry you feel the current Silverado Body Style is ugly.

i'm with you. I test drove a few Titan's and man, that thing can spank @$$!! The one I drove was the Base model 4x4 w/ 20's. It would still light them up in the parking lot!!!

why did you buy it if its soo ugly?... Maybe you should of bought something other that a truck if they are all so un-appealing, or just settled for one of the older body style silverado's that was in good shape. Just dosent make sense to buy domething if you dont like it. I personally like the new Nissan Titan.

It is the nature of some people to complain and whine a lot. Imagine what they were like when they were kids.

Ok I heard enough, I didn't expect 8 pages of replys. I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on.The guy that said I suffer from compulsive buying is probally right. The guy that said I should be better off walking is just being a smartass, because that is not a realistic solution.Andd the sugestion about getting a car instead, I guess you nevr tried to put dirt bikes in a camaro, and drive out to remote locations in the desert. When I posted this I just got home from dealer, was not happy about the trade in price, and all the new little features I didn't expect (like satellite link). I had to vent a little, Sorry, never happen again.

Skipr...you can vent all that you want...it's just that in your first post it gave the impression that you hadn't looked at the truck in the first place. Now that you have had a chance to think about it a little you might be suffering from a little buyers' remorse. I can't fault you one bit...I have been there done that. I think however when the sting of shelling out all of that loot goes away you might find that Chevrolet, even as troublesome as they are, still makes a damn good truck.

I feel for you skipr. I still have buyers remorse a year and a half later. I liked the truck when i bought it and could not complain about the price they gave me on my trade in (96 sierra 4x4 ext cab with 170,000km's and they still gave me $15000.00)but after a few minor problems that the dealership that i bought it from would not cover, it really pissed me off. Hell at times i actually hate the thing, but i guess sometimes ya gotta make due with what ya got even if you do dislike it. Who knows maybe someday i might start liking mine..................

Hey Skipr, don't take anything personally. Speaking for my self I made a rash judgement that you had purchased unseen, undriven and may have been a little rude. I just have a hard time understanding how you can't find anything you like out there in the way of trucks. But not everyone likes the same things or even new technologies that are available. I complain about my truck on occasion b/c it's definately given me my fair share of shit. So feel free to post anything at anytime. I hope none of us have scared you away from AF. It's a great site full of great people to shoot the shit with and help you out with any questions you may have. Sometimes we just get a little carried away.

Greetings Skipr,
I love my new 2004 - its better than any truck I've ever had before. But to your point instead. From your post it sounds like you paid $37,000 which seems like a lot - you must have gotten an LT fully loaded. What about all the rebates etc.? Are you forgeting to tell us about all of that?
Mine started at $33,000, but between the rebates ($5,000) and the dealing down - I was at $24,000 before trade in or business rebate. Granted mine is a 4 x 2 and I bought it in August as an 04 - but I had the limited appearance package and the performance package (add $3000), XM, climate control etc. etc..
Personally - I love the new styling both front and back (and no noone who likes the prior better) - 4 doors in the extended cab - better seat quality - even the mileage is good. The Nissan was second on the list, with my ever present Fords a disappointing third on the list.

I got the package with all the goodies. What do call it..LS?,LM?LT? I'm already starting to adjust to it and I guess I like it. I don't love it yet. I do love the 310 HP. The front end riding height sucks, I like level look, My 98 Z71 was level. The 4:11 rearend is nice too. I guess I forgot to tell about the 2,300 extended warranty I bought...(5 year 75,000). I wish I had held out and waited for my color choice. (wanted metalic green, settled for summit white)

Ok it's 5 days later and I am starting to really like this truck, I forgot what that 98 K1500 looks like. Does anyone know why they are putting aluminum block 5.3's into these trucks now?

First off, sorry for calling you a whiner. I guess sticker shock was a bit much. I didn't sleep for a week. But I did always like the truck. Glad you are starting to like it as well. My 04 has 25000 miles now without a problem. Not really anticipating any major ones. I had a 2000 that I traded in at 75000 without any problems. Here's a pic of mine.......

It is lifted 6 inches. The truck behind mine has a leveling kit. There both Z71's. Fabtech has what you want as many of the other lift companies do as well.
