Bigger Stock Turbo On JDM 4G63T??

Hey guys!

Quick Question...

I am getting my car back today after a while and I took a look at the turbo on it. It is bigger, but I don't know what it is. The intake looks bigger on it and the compressor wheel has larger blades.

Is this a stock turbo or did this guy put a new one on it or what?

Any help would be neat, as well I am not sure if you need any more info, if so just let me know.

i think the JDM motors come with a TD04HL housing and it's really a small 16g? i think. i'm not 100% positive, but i've read shit about those JDM 4g63T motors before.

if you were lucky, your jdm motor came with 510cc yellow top injectors and a big 16 turbo.

Actually the turbo that comes on the JDM motors resembles a 15g. It has a 13g compressor housing with a small 16g compressor wheel.


I hope that mechanic used your stock intake manifold or got the computer for the JDM mani.

so, is this better than the US 4G63T ones? Is there a chance that is came with 510cc injectors and a 16g, or no??

What happens if he didnt use the stock intake manifold or the computer from the JDM one??

If it says TD04 on the turbo housing its not a 16g... If it says TD05H the turbo could be a 14b or 16g. You will have to take off the intake pipe to see what it is.

Another thing, check the color of the injectors, if they are yellow then they are most likely 510's. If they are blue or black then they are probably 450's.

About the intake mani... you car probably would run like shit if it was the JDM manifold without the computer, or it probably just wouldnt run at all. I'm guessing he used your stock mani.

okay, so it will be obvious if there is an issue then eh? i will take a closer look at the turbo and maybe snap some picuters soon. thanks for the help Jake.

EDIT--> I spoke with my mechanic and he said that the injectors were yellow. So i guess that means they are the 510cc ones...YAAAY. Yes, he said that he used the stock intake manifold, so that is a plus :-) As well, how will I know when I take off the pipe which turbo it will be? If it says TD04, what will it be then?

Take the intake pipe off and see which compressor wheel it looks like. Does it look like pic #1 or #2?

if its the yellow injectors, shouldnt it come with the big 16g turbo? Any ways, what kinda 4g63T is off from, the Evos? or just a typical USDM 4g63T with lower miles and with modded injectors?

pretty much the same as the one here except for one thing i found, the rods are bigger and the wrist pin is also bigger dont remember the mm size.


my friends shop has an evo 3 on the floor going in the mirage.

Not sure if that answers my question directly or not. I am not sure what the engine is out of, but it is a red top. Not sure if it is the cyclone or not. It is JDM not USDM.

Jake, or anyone, could you let me know what that turbo is in the second picture up above?

The turbo in the second picture is a 16g so if your compressor wheel looks like that, then thats what it is.

Shit, if you have the yellow top injectors (510cc) you have got to be running pig rich! Hows the gas milage? My guess is its shitty seeing you dont have anyway to controll the injectors (atleast I dont see it in your mod list in your sig). You should get a S-AFC II and datalogger soon or get 1g dsmlink to lean it out a little.

Well right now I have the old stock 450cc injectors. I will get something in the future before I toss them in. What would you suggest, and what are the prices and such? Thanks again Jake.

One more thing...Typically what will the 16g add in regards to power? I know it is dumb to say "what will this run" but I am just wondering what I am to expect. Take into account what else I have done, if you wouldn't mind.
