Hi again, here is some of my new work. There's a pearlescent TVR t350T, an old Vette and a bodykit design for a Lancer.... which I know is out of proportion, but I just wanted to jot some ideas down that I had in my head. i also tried an interior sketch. Tell me what you think. Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Alex

Nice work, but the blue at the nose is too uprupt. And the rims are PS'd. :p, j/k bout the last part. Lancer kit looks cool.

Alex.. Great work. Who needs Illustrator or Freehand when you can draw like that? Always love seeing your stuff! Robo

the vette looks absolutly amazing. the only thing I can see off is the crossbar connecting the bumperettes. but it's hardly noticable bacause the rest of the car is dead on.
the evo kit is real sharp. try using some smoother lines on the rear. I think it has too many straight edges to match the rest of the kit. but maybe it's just me.

alex, i have been an avid follower of your stuff; you are getting even better, sir. your ellipses are reaching a great state of refinement. your sketches are loosening up and getting very innovative. i cannot say a bad thing about you, matey.
one crit: the vette's front wheel is perfect, but has a bit much positive camber for me. and the split bumper elements just a wee-bit, just a tad, seem to "droop." otherwise, you are a genius.
you absolutely, 101%, can make a career of this. i am not just saying that to make you feel good, as i will be the first one to chop you up if you get too cocky. :smokin:

How do you get it to look just like a picture? I mean do you trace it, also how do you color it to get it so smooth?

i dont think alex trace, that just sucks, no fun with drawing that way, he is using a grid..
i think..
grids are a pretty fun and a smart help to get all the proportions right, and uding a grid alot just make one better to draw gridless!

Me, sitting at the computer.
the thread opens, the pictures load.
I'm staring at the pictures.
I'm shaking my head.
Great work.

What size paper did you use for the tvr and the vette? The pearl paint on the TVR looks awesome.

It's a grid, but they're still awesome.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions everybody.
GVEman: I don't do any photoediting on my drawings. Everything is done by hand. The only thing I change on computer is lighten the drawing so it's as close to the real drawing as possible. (the scan darkens the drawing)
thetonyguy: the first two are drawings
Alex and Kanibal: thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice.
Zwaag: I don't trace, just a grid. for the colors, it's just a long process of layering colors and grey tones with light pressure. There are at least 20 layers of color on the color drawings. Actually if you look closely, you can see some spots where I overblended the colors and it got kind of grainy, more so on the tvr. It's also the paper I use, which is nice and grainy so it can take alot of layers of color.
Bonz: Thanks for the crit. I see what you mean about the front wheel and the bumper. btw, thanks for the reassurance that you won't let me get cocky.
Nismo4banger: the tvr and Vette are on 9x12" stonehenge paper.
Jeep: I think the tvr was around 20-25 hours.

Hey Alex, I see where you explained some about the 20-layer process. I understand you are tight on time. But there is no need to draw an entire car for a tutorial, perhaps just some renderings (a rendering of a fender or something showing you layer process).
No pressure just a suggestion
Thx

hello alex. im not always able to make it on to see everyone's art, but when i do make it on, i always can expect some of the best from you. I love that era of vettes (late 50's, early 60's), so just seeing that drawing made my day. i also believe you should make as mush as you can with your great talents, and consider selling your drawings. but, its completely up to you! thanks again, and keep it up
