Hi I recently changed my spark plug and i notice there was a few white shit on it. Someone tell me that i may have a leak of coolant in my engine.

is this possible ?
is this bad for the engine?

Thanks

If they are new, it sounds like they are fowling. It's not coolant. Go to AutZone or a simliar place and ask for a set of anti-fowlers. They're little boot-like things that go over the electrode.

However, if you've had em a while, it's normal for them too be white on the electrode - this is the color most of them turn after they've been burned long enough.

If the electrode has a white ash appearing substance on it that is normal. If it has a large build-up on the plug then it may indicate that the engine has a coolant leak either due to a bad head gasket or a bad intake manifold gasket. If you haven't seen any white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, I would lean toward the intake manifold gasket especially if this is a V6. A lot cheaper to repair than a head gasket. Is there any way you could take a picture of the plug and post it. Would help to actually see what it looks like.

the white stuff wasn't on the electrode it was a few higher than the electrode.

My friend also tell me that the pression on big coolant hose near the engine was very weak, even when the radiator was working.

i have a exhaust leak near the manifold.
what is the tailpipe?

i no longer have the sparkplug they have been changed 2week ago

Ridenour .. what mean fowling ?

thanks ;)

The tailpipe is the pipe at the end of the exhaust.

fowling is when the sparkplugs have chemicals on them that get burned and react with the heat to burn into something else and cause problems with blocking the spark. It happens mostly on spark plugs that run too hot or too cold for an engine.

^ ^ LMAO! :) lol

I heard someone talking about how their LIM gasket had gone bad and how their oil had a "milky white substance" in it from the coolant mixing with the oil. And the other guy was like "maybe the oil change guy just got a little bored..." lol
