HID Upgrade Kits

I own a 01 LS and am seriously considering upgrading my headlights via one of those HID upgrade kits. Does anyone have any experience with these? I don't want to spend all that money and make a big mistake. I do see that Sylvania sells a pretty close halogen duplicate that can be bought for $40 a pair. Maybe that would be a wiser investment?

This isn't one of my strong subjects... I know there is a guy running an Audi HID projector setup in a pre-'03 LS, but it was full-custom. I'm not sure about any other "kits" that are true HID. If it doesn't replace the reflector assembly, I'd be afraid.
I've got a set of SilverStars and I'm happy with them, but nobody who knows will EVER confuse them with ture HID. The beam pattern and color are way off from HID standards.

I got the bug out of my system and purchased a pair of SilverStars. I was really apprehensive over the HID upgrades and really didn't want to invest that kind of money in something that could potentially make matters worse. I didn't see andy that provided the reflector. So far I'm happy with the SilverStars. You're right, no cigar for passing as HID's but they do look better and I can certainly see better at night.

You should swap the fog lights as well. i installed the Sylvania Blue Star 9145 IIRC and they illuminate the road very nicely. I also use the Siler Stars on the Low beams.
