Useful Info

For anyone trying to figure out what size carb you need, Holley's website has a formula (with all the explanations for us dumb folk) that tells you how to calculate the CFM required to run your engine, and application guides.

The problem with this formlula is that it does not take into account many other factors such as compression ratio, bore and stroke ratio, combustion chamber design, and much, much more are not even considered that are also important in choosing a carburetor. Seems true so far. I asked Holley about 2.5 weeks ago about what kind of cam I should purchase from their Lunati Div. I gave them all the important info on my Camaro and sent the email. As of yet.... nothin.

I believe they said that formula will get you close to what you need. It includes a reduction for "volumetric efficiency" (or something like that) that I read to mean "all the other bullshit in the engine that fucks up our calculation."

I sent Holley a second email asking them to expand upon their origianl reply and haven't heard anything yet... just about 2 weeks ago too. Maybe some jackass unplugged their modem / router.
