Hey whats up guys. I have a question for all of you.
My buddy has a 88 crx. Base model. He wants to drop a new engine in the car but doesnt want to have to customize a shit load of things. HEs looking for more HP then hes got now but also an engine that will basically drop right in. Some modification is expected. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'll say go for a B18b1, is not that fast but in a compact car and ligth weigh like a crx it should be very good...... the thing is I'm not sure if it wil fit right..... I'll look in some documentes and let you know.

Go with a zc. no cutting involved.. will drop right in. can use the stock drive shafts, and motor mounts line right up. CRX was meant for ZC!!!!!!! I suggest if you have dx to upgrade your ecu to SI or better. Little rewiring and your set, unless of course you get a zc ecu with harness..
Make sure you get a zc complete with tranny.. there not expensive. you can get complete for about 800 bucks.. used of course. The reason i say complete is i found it hard to find them seperate.. most people who had zc for sale didn't want to split tranny and motor...
Good Luck!

What trim is it? As an SI or HF a DOHC ZC just slides in other then hubs on HF if I remember right.
the Dx ones you need to wire up MPFI. Also for bolt ins other then wiring is the newer SOHC D series motors like the d16z6 *92-95 si/ex* and the D16y8 *96-00* the z6 and y8 both have vtec so there is some minor wiring needed. I myself like the twincam *DOHC* ZC best out of the 3 drop in motors. Also if the car is an SI the D16a6 is a nice motor to work on its what i'm stuck with at this time not to bad really.
for B motors you need some fab work.
