Ive been wondering since a few of you guys had yours changed. I'm looking at doing some clutch and flywheel work within the next couple of months but oddly enough I dont know what a bad synchro feels like.

My 2nd gear synchro is bad. With normal shifting, and especially when the car is cold, it grinds every time. Granny shifting it makes it not grind. You would know if your synchros were bad, I'm pretty sure.

I haven't replaced mine yet. It does the same thing all the time, but doesn't seem to be getting worse. They have to haul and take apart the transmission, so I'm guessing $1000 in labor. I think it's in the FAQ. I'll just wait until I have $1000 burning a hole in my pocket. So yeah, never.

check around to your transmission shops around, i got mine done for $600 in labor, the blocking rings that you buy which is actually what the problem is, are $80 a piece.
you'll know if its went bad, simply by shifting gears and hearing a very annoying grind
