I'm about to change the transmission filter in my 93 Grand Am (2.3L Quad).
Is there anything I should be on the look out for/be careful of while I have the pan removed?
I'm a little concerned about getting all of the old gasket off and cleaning/prepping the mating surfaces. Its been a while since I've done anything like this and last time I remember old gaskets tends to be a pain in the a$$ to remove.

Not really it is a pretty straight forward change. Just make sure to seat the filter in position and to put the gasket back properly. If you have done this before then you should have no problems this time. Make sure to check for metal in the pan though it will give you an indication of the tranny's condition. Finally, to remove the gasket I use a razor scraper which usually works quite well.
