drift setup

lets say i get a 95 KA24DE....and i have about 6K left over what should i do swap for an SR20DE or turbo it?

what main things should i buy for a good drift setup for 5K and what are the best manufaturers?

Maybe you should just relaxe, see what YOU think you should once you get the car, then ask us. Just trying to help man, not trying to be offensive. But seriously, the KA-T would be cheaper and you would still have a shit load left over for coilovers, sway bars, tires, bolt ons, and insurance. Tires will be costly too if you plan on doing serious drifting.

for drifting, the sr20 applies more than the ka.. and a drift setup is all about the suspension..

thank you. not many people realize that. everyone thinks let me put an sr20 in and a can drift. but think about what going to happen to the suspension and the frame of the car. you need to get the car stiff so it doesnt bend when your flinging the car sideways

Id think about geting a car to go around it before you think of trading it in for an SR

you mentioned SR20DE or turbo-ing your KA. I could be wrong but don't swap your 2.4 KA for a 2.0 SR non-turbo. The performance/quality is completely different from the JDM sr20det. So if you are doing a swap... don't bother to swap into a weaker engine. keep the iron block.

if you want to feel how an sr20de feels, drive a 2.0 sentra.. i think they have the sr20de.. its brutal.. and its got totally different internals and everything.. don't even consider it. if you're gonna swap for drifting, the sr20det or ca18det are ideal.. they'll probably even be better than the ka for drifting seeing as how they both rev higher at a stock setup

yes drifting is a whole lot about chassis and suspension but lets not forget about LSD.thats a must for drifting

You need to definitely focus on suspension if you're gonna drift. Sway bars, coilovers, and lots of tires! You gotta stiffen up your ride, man.

Sorry but I’m tired of people saying they want to drift.
Do u understand what drifting is about?
Have u been in a car that is drifting, or u just seen it on TV or Drft-Day?
Where r u going to drift? Costco parking lot? In the freeway or better yet, in the Canyons?
So you by a 240 and u swap the SR and spend 5G on suspension (+LSD please!) and u wrap your car on a post or total it into the wall.

Look I don’t know u and all; you might be the next drift king. BUT if I were you, I would install an LSD and go and drift my STOCK CAR. U will learn allot with a car with allot of body roll and bad breaks…etc THEN once u get BETTER and more CONFIDENT in getting u car to loose control and gaining it back (drifting) THEN move on , get what u need , what u think u need not what’s in catalogs and bandwagon shit.


Look I drift, but my car looks stock and its not all that, but she is good enough for me.
Drfting requires constant money… I’m luck that my friends own a tire shop because I get bold tires from him for $20 installed… I drift on the stock rims, there strong and I did hit them 2 times against the curb…

What I’m trying to say is :
Install LSD, and learn from the car, save the $ for SMART up greads and for tires and Drift Events ….

PS ( I go to Long Beach to drift, its an abandon industrial street , 8 car length wide and has no bumps and WE go at night , still we stay there for 30 min max!, OR Drift Day!)
