I'd say get and AEM cold air intake, and get a K&N filter for it, that will make your pickup alittle better

what year is it? if it is a newer e30 with OBDI programing, you can put a chip into it that will raise the redline to 7200 rpm, and give you about 15 lb/ft of torque at around 3500, and about 20 hp at around 6000.
you could get a really expensive exhaust for a few hp and better airflow. Get a cone airfilter or cold air intake. this will give you a few HP. Dont get NOS. if you really dislike your 4 cylinder, then an engine swap might be called for. But then you are getting into big amounts of money.

Flywheels...get a lighter flywheel, get a reprogramed ECU to raise the rev limit, get an intake, and exhaust...Dinan has good exhaust systems you can check it out at dinanbmw.com but as far as acceleration either lighten up your body panals with light weight fenders and hood, and/or get an intake matched with an exhaust and chip. If you only do the intake chip and exhaust...you'll have a large increase in power. BMP design has a K&N racing air filter kit for around $120 bucks. CHeck them out at bmpd.com With the dinan chip and exhuast, (the chip is around $200, exhaust is $500) and intake you should be running around 165 peak horsepower which is a far cry from 134 stock. Remember this, more air in, better flow through out (exhaust) the more power you'll get. Also look into the lightened fly wheels at kormanfastbmw.com they know they're stuff...

134 hp stock?? this is a 1985 318i. im pretty sure those only have 115 at the most.
plus, trying to lighten your car with carbon fiber and other light weight material is pretty pricey stuff, and if you get into all that, you might as well do an engine swap.

Well,
In that case dinan doesn't have anything for you on their site...and like 3.5 litremoose suggested...get a swap. Look online for junkyards for an engine from a wrecked 325 2.5 liter. Or get a rebuilt one at bavengine.com They sell rebuilt engines, for around 3 grand you can have a brand new 2.5l. Buit if you're interested in body lightening...you can get carbon fiber hoods for $800, and quarter panals for $170 per panal. the hood link is www.globalmotorsportsgroup.com/bbody.html and the quaterpanals and fenders are at kormanfastbmw.com Enjoy

correct, the 90/91 318i &318is rated 136 hp...

would doing the pulleys help with accelration???

maybe a new exhaust system (kelleners), this is applicable on any M series but I don't know how about yours

a friend of mine with a highly modified evo II e30 M3 just put straight pipes on his car (no catalytic coverter, just a pipe and a borella exhaust).
The S14 engine on the M3 runs so cleanly it still passes emminsions without the cat. im not sure if the engine on the 318 runs that cleanly, but i would talk to a mechanic who would know. he gained about 15 hp and alot of low end torque from doing it.

I'd like to know if anybody knows different companys that make different kinds of good looking bodykits for a 318i/BMW/1985 ?
THANX, Peace !
