Problem with power windows....

Well I asked a few people and they gave thier advice. I took it but I would rather hear it from someone with real experiece.

Today when I used one of my power windows to clear the snow/ice off, I heard a crack and the window dropped to as low as the window can go. I checked the acual glass pane and it is not damaged. I am not sure if the acual mechanical parts are broken or just not working right because of the cold. I was able to close the window by pushing it up and using electrical tape to create a seal.

Please help!

Thanks!

Garrett

More then likely, the window regulator is broken. The regulator is the piece that moves the actual pane of glass up and down.

You really shouldn't use the power window to clear ice and snow from the glass for this reason. I believe the regulator part is designed to break before it damages the window itself.

yes focusyn is correct that little piece is only designed to hold the wieght of the pane of glass itslef nothing else, if there is ice one it it will break, if someone leans on it, it will break before that glass does so that minimal/no damage occurs to the window pane.
