I'm wanting to add 2 more 12s to my car *taking place of back seat* As you can see i want SPL *wanting loudest car in town* I'm thinking either 2 SE 12's or maybe 1 XXX 15 *maybe 2 XXX 12s* with another ED Nine 1 powering them. THat will put the system at the my 2 12 SPls plus ^^*other suggestion welcome** Saving up for awhile after i get job plus b-day coming. So which do u think would be better? Or u think differnt sub?? either 2 12s or 1 15.

Can you fit 2 15's? If so I'd do 2 SX 15's and 2 nine.1's SX>xxx for SPL

Going to take teh measurement tommrow i doubt it highly. if not u say 2 SE 12s? Also do u know where i could get a SPl meter? How much i saw one that on a radio shack web site 60$ 50db-126db good deal?? 2nd battary or just upgrade??

126dB can be hit by pansy waste walmart woofers in a great set up. 126 is about the level of peaks in my home theatre. i have the SPL meter you speak of and for 2 SX's of any size powerd by Nine.1's will hit above 126 easy in any enclosure.
The other SPl meter i have experence with is called the X-Meter Boomstick. the one i have used is the Boomstick160 which reads SPL untill 160dB. it also cost $1100. good SPL meters cost a ton of money. if you really want to find out how loud you are hitting accuratley just enter you car in an SPL competition. do a few burps and be done with it. though i doubt you will hit much above mid 140's unless you go for a pure SPL set up. which will offer no low end or SQ at all (if you could even fit an SPL enclsorue in that z28).

1 15> 2 12's for price reasons. 1 12's will be slightly louder with twice the power but not much.

KK so u think i should go with 1 15 or 1 12. How hight of a spl meter do i need?

1 15 definately.. itll be almost twice as loud as one 12 would be.

as far as the meter.. i dont know much abotu this.. but im gonna think you wont need much over 150 dbs.

Don't buy a meter..... there's gotta be a shop somewhere near u w/ one.... no reason to buy one.

Dude i live in rural area of KY i highly doubt it. The nearest dino is 3hrs away i know that but i'll check so u think a 15 SE will do the trick with a ed nine pushing it.

NO, a 15 "SX!", not SE. SE is more sound quality than SX. In SPL, SX>XXX>SE

Just call them, they usually answer. But make sure you check the sub when it gets there. I bought a 15" .se from them, and when I took it to get it installed the installer pointed out that it was "frozen", now I have to go through the hassle of sending it back and getting a new one.

When I called reaudio he actually admitted that 20% of the subs usually have something damaged through shipping. I told him maybe they should reconsider the way they packaged (it really was pretty shoddy, just one thing of styrophome covering the magnet, and the rest shaking around in a big box). He just shrugged me off.

Get a 12" or a 15" MTX sledgehammer in a ported box, good sounding sub, loud as hell, at work we have a 12" MTX sledgehammer in a ported box, we threw it in the trunk of the bosses cavalier and hooked on an 800 watt amp, the bastard hit 148.9db in the trunk of a cavalier, no sound deadening, 4 ga wiring harness, nuthin special. In my eyes if you wanna go spl go mtx, efficient, painfully loud, and you can't kill them, trust me.

Hey bumpinstang77 what u think ported vs sealed? Pre made or custom? I was thinking going custom that way i could use up as much space in what was the back seat aera? how many db u think i could hit with those 2 SPL 12s and that SX both pushed by ed nines?

bumpinstang77
01-27-2005, 12:37 PM
WOAH....... don't run two different types of subs that will sound like garbage...... trust me a single SX 15 will get plenty loud enough for that camaro. Just sell you 12's to help pay for the sx or sumthin. I prefer ported boxes because I like loud ass bottom heavy bass. A lot of people like sealed better though becasue you can get a nice flat even sound, just not as loud as ported. For an SX I would definately port it. DEfinately make your own 99% of prefabs are shitty. And as far as how many DB's you'll be hittin..... well that's hard to tell realistically I can say 135-uppper 140's. It just has so much to do with the box, the car, and the positioning. For example..... there was a guy who went to do some tweaking and accidentally left his toolbox inside his box..... he gained something like 1.5 decibals...... SPL is wierd.

Dreamspawn

see i'm pretty sure i'm not going to be paying for the SX *bday* so i guess i'll sell my spls and maybe buy 2 sx 12s that would defintly push the dbs^ getting ready to take the measuremnts of my back seat area.

Dreamspawn
01-27-2005, 12:54 PM
The biggest i could make the box would be 43.5 width,25 depth and 18high. that would be taking up the WHOLE backseat and leave the box 1-2in between it and the back of the front seats. I know the mouting depth is like 8 in. for the SX so that should be big enough.

Mannyb18b
01-27-2005, 01:47 PM
Is that the area in the trunk? Are those dimensions that you can fit through your opening? a box is useless unless it can fit through your trunk opening

Dreamspawn
01-27-2005, 04:03 PM
not the trunk where the backseat used to be. The trunk has a custom enclsore for camaros but it is for 2 12s. and i could fit that size in my car yes

Just adding 2 12's on the same amp isnt goin to be a diff. between running (1) 15 on the same amp. You will need almost twice the power.

01-27-2005, 06:08 PM
why dont you try 2 15" mt's? and put like 4000-6000rms into each one

bumpinstang77
01-27-2005, 07:01 PM
Honestly you have plenty of room for 2 SX 15's. I wouldn't go with 2 12's if you could fit 2 15's because a 15 is almost twice as loud as a 12 off of the same power. Or if you wanted to keep the price down you could go with 2 SE 15's and a nine.1. I've done a few of these setups and they slam pretty damn hard.

KK i think some ppl are alittle confused i already have a box for 2 12s and a ednine. I'm considering putting 2 12sxs in that box and adding a 15sx with anotehr ed nine. so bumpin stang u think i have room for 2 15s i actully didn't think that i had that much room but i gues i do. That would put me at 4SXs in my car 2 12s and 2 15s. Or maybe 2 12SEs with 2 15sx just expermenting like i said i'm going to be saving $$ and hoping bday will cath most of it. That would be a HELL of a system.

bumpinstang77

No u don't get it......... DONT run different subs (or different sizes of the same sub) Run all the same.....trust me. Just get 2 SE 15's keep the amp u got.... port the hell out of the 2 SE 15's and you'll be happy. OR get 2 sx 15's and add another nine.1 (ull need to do some electrical upgrades)

Dreamspawn
01-27-2005, 10:16 PM
KK, That works I guess i'll get the SEs they are cheaper and 2db differnce accoarding to site. Plus i can use my one ednine 1 to push them. Where could i find the closests SPL comp. Once i get them i'd be really wanting to see what i can hit. Could i use WinISD to fig it out? I d/l and put in the 2 SEs in the box dimesoins i listed and got back 120db.

bumpinstang77
01-27-2005, 11:08 PM
lol that would be an in room response not in car...... three's no way of telling anywhere near what you'll be hittin somewhere between 130 and 150. And this is not a competition system im me on aim well chat RYDEme N mySTANG

yes what I said.... If you want all out SPL tho go for some MT's and like 6kw on each with dual 250 amp alts yellow top under the hood w/ like 4 in the back. Get quad .7ohm and put 2 orion 2500D's on each..... .35ohms for burps.... 1.4 ohms daily...... 5 cubes each tuned to 50 hz w/ like 150-175 sqin of port area..... woofers up ports forward..... then get a port plug to take it down to like 30hz for daily..... wow...... only problem is that would be like right at 5 grand.
