I have a 2000 blazer 4dr 4wd. I've owned it for about a year and half. I just replaced the battery(AC DELCO). The old battery was toast, I couldn't even boost it to start at -30 weather. Now the truck will occasionally stall, and the battery light comes on. It will start right up after though. There is also an aftermarket remote starter that was on the vehicle went I bought it. Any idea's whats wrong.

Did you make sure the battery connections were tight and the battery was completely charged before you installed it into the truck?

Also, when the engine is running, where is the needle on the charge gauge.

The terminals are tight. just over 14 i believe

Take a voltmeter and test the battery voltage with the truck off and with the truck running and come back with the results.

Can you move the connections around at all on the battery? I just replaced my battery this week as well on my 2000 Blazer. I went to the local Canadian Tire to get one of their Eliminator batteries and I had trouble with the battery cables not clamping tight against an aftermarket battery. The threaded inlets on the battery were not deep enough and would not allow the GM stock bolts to go in far enough. I wasn't going to start screwing around with new bolts. The Canadian Tire "battery specialist" came out to my truck to give it a try and also tried a different brand and again it would not allow the bolts to thread in far enough (it would connect and disconnect as the connection was not tight) Went to the dealer and got one of their batteries and it worked fine. Just a thought if you are using a non GM/AC Delco battery.

It is stalling because the engine is dieing. He said it was AC DELCO

Bad advice or a mistake is one thing...

Bad advice and impersonation with the will to defraud and cause harm; especially in a DIY automotive forum is deplorable. Ignore the toad - he will find delight somewhere else.

Blazerlt, when truck is off 12Volts, on it's 14.3 volts, truck didn't stall today. this is getting frustrating.

Was this measured with a voltmeter?

12 volts is low for a battery and I think that is what is causing your problems.

A properly charged battery should be between 12.8 to 13.4 volts fully charged.

the voltage is dropping probably well below 12 when you hit the starter and this starves the fuel pump for power.

Charge your battery.

Seriously???? These batteries are 12v batteries. Now if you have been driving around for a while then test it then yes, it will show above 12v but if it has been sitting for a while, it may not.

Personally, I'd suspect any of the following.... Bad battery cables. GM had problems were the battery would leak and would rot the cables from the inside out. Ignition switch. These things are known to go bad very early. Remote start. If the install is a little below par, critical wires could be dropping voltage and causing it to stall.

Hey guys, I know I'm new, but I do have quite a bit of mechanical knowledge. I believe something else is the problem because anytime the engine isn't running and the key is on, the battery light will come on.

I'm going to recheck the cable wires, and have the remote starter checked. I don't trust those remote starters. thanks for your help also ponchonutty. I took BlazerLT advice and charged the battery.

Sorry, but a 12volt battery doesn't just put out 12volts.
