Heat Problem

I have alittle issue with my 97 grand prix gt.... the other day (in the middle of a snow storm) My heat decides to stop working... I have been having an issue with it for alittle while.. it would only work on the high setting #5 .. 1-4 nothing would come out.. I got into my car and the heat was working.. i turned if off for a second.. went to turn it back on and it just stopped working.. I checked the fuses and they where not blown... I am thinking it may be the control panel in my dash that something may be wrong with that... Before i take it all apart and go to the junk yard to see if i can find another.. I was wondering if anyone has had similar happenings or any idea with it could be????

Okay first thing to do is get a multi meter and meter out your wires you my need to get into the dash to do this. if the wires are old and/or brittle you'll want to replace them also the meter can tell you if any of the other elctrical components are faulty. you should check beginning middle and end of the line to isolate and make trouble shooting easier.
