Automatic Lock Problems On 96 Accord Lx

MY AUTOMATIC LOCKS ARE MESSED UP WHEN EVER I USE MY KEY TO OPEN my doors only the door behind the driver side works. You can hear them open and close but it doesnt can any one help me. And if i take it to the honda dealer does any one know how much it would cost to fix it
plz post if you know or have any advice thnxx.

I have the same problem on my 96 EXV6 passenger front and drivers side rear, you can here the accuator trying to move the button up and down but it won't work at all on the front and only every once in awhile in the rear. I pulled the rear door panel off yesterday and it looks like the only thing you can do is replace the accuator. The funny part is I can here this thing still trying to lock the doors some times 20 min. after I went in the house.

I thought this was funny.

I locked my keys in my car and I was also having problems with my actuator but the problem turned into my solution. The actuator started going off and it unlocked my door.

You can purchase an Actuator on ebay for about 70 bucks plus shipping. I don't know how much the dealer sells it for but i'm a DIYer.

Is the actuator easy to replace? and would a bad actuator explain a non-locking drivers-side rear door (unless done manually). The knob also sticks up like it's unlocked when it's locked and even higher when it's unlocked... sound like a bad actuator?

You Have To Remove Your Door Panels To See How The System Works. There Are Plastic Connectors That Hold The Small Metal Sticks From The Accuator To The Lock. Sometimes These Plastics Break Check It Out. If You Hear The Car Actually Trying To Open And Close The Door, Then The Accutaor Is Good. Ehscrewdude, You Just Have To Turn The Knob On The Door To Get It To Lower.

I don't know if this applies to a '96 Accord, but my mom had an Acura Legend (not sure of the year, but the engine was mounted north-south instead of sideways). It would do exactly what you describe sometimes even running the battery dead locking and unlocking. I drove it for about a year and after a few weeks of using all the possible methods of unlocking, the problem went away. I would just use the lock switch one day, the plunger another, the remote the next and periodically exercise the passenger side too. I'm certain it was a bad switch, but it was just too much trouble to try to figure out which one.
