Anyone know why there aren't any front wheel drive pickups? (at least none that I know about.)They would be great for snow and ice...just like mini-vans are. Not talking about 4 wheel drive.

Probably for towing and hauling.

Yeah, i somehow feel that a front wheel drive pick up wouldn't be able to produce the kind of torque needed for heavy hauling or towing, i could also see it snapping front drive axles like a fiend.

Not only that but it would lift up the front end of the truck enough that traction could become a problem. My family learned that the hard way on vacation pulling our boat out of the lake with a fwd Grand Caravan. Luckily so many people in Nothern WI are nice enough people to help yank us out.

There is a front wheel drive pickup. It's called a Dodge Rampage.

Yeah, a whole two years of production. Must have worked real good. The funny thing is, it would probably sell like hotcakes (whatever the hell that means) now that everyone is buying a truck that will never see anything in the bed, just so they can be "cool".

Don't forget the Subaru Brat and VW Rabbit pickups

actually, brats were 4wd, and rampages were released for three years, scamps (the plymouth version) were only released for two, and it works great for hauling around the dirtbikes, while it knocks back 32-35 mpg :)
