I have a 96 Grand Am. The rear wheel will lock and skid when pedal pressure is applied. This only happens ifto much pressure is applied or if on gravel or wet pavement. I believe this only happens to the driver rear tire. Any suggestions would be helpful

These are still drum brakes right? Rebuild the brake wheel cylinder. Something I went through not too long ago. I thought I had a rear brake that was locking up then pulsating as the car slowed down. After replacing all brake components, I found it was a bad shock which would allow the wheel to bounce as it grabbed the payment. Just something to look out for.

Blbhern made a good point with the shocks. If it is drums in the back, it's possible the shoes are very worn. As the shoes wear, the leverage the rear brake cylinders get to apply force to the shoes increases allowing more force to be applied to them causing lock up.

Brake fluid on the shoes will cause this, or incorrectly installed shoes.

If every thing checks out... check the break adjusters, if one is set too high it will cause a lock up on one wheel.
