My alternator was bad so bought and installed a new one, easy job. When I started truck alternator gauge showed charging. However, the entire air conditioning controls on dash does not light or work. In other words, no speed control, no illumination of controls, nothing. The A/C compressor seems to be on because I can hear it cycling on and off every so often and I can hear the fan running on very low and a slight amount of cold air comes out of the vents. I pulled the 25 amp fuse for the a/c system and this makes all of the above stop but when I put the fuse back in still have the same problem of no control. Any ideas?

Your truck has an alernator guage? If you mean the voltmeter, what was the reading? If it is in the red, stop running it. I had a fusible link blow on my 86, I kept running it... long story short, it pretty much destroyed my entire electrical system. I only had high blower speed, high wiper speed, cruise control didn't work... a few other problems

Yes, I mean the voltmeter. It was in the red and I stoped and put in a new alternator. The A/C problem didn't occur until after the alternator change out. Any way the problem is solved. I took the wires off the alternator and cleaned them and put them back on and no more problems
Thanks for your response.
