Just bought a 1999 328ic..no manual yet.
What is the ASC button about and I don't have the bottom engine cover..is it worth getting one?

That button is for the Active Stability Control + Traction system. The system is
normally on. If you press that button, you will see a yellow indicator in the center
of your instrument panel light up. That light indicates that the ASC system is off. If you are driving with the system on and the light begins to flash, then one or more of your wheels are slipping and the system is actively compensating. This happens to me when it snows heavily.
