i just bought a cherry 1969 volkswagon bug and i love it i plan on dropping her and putting some fat rims on her. i drove her for a week but then the problems strarted , first the rim almost fell off then the electerical problems. battery would not hold charge i change the voltage regulator ,did not work then the genarator , still did not work.i am not a vw mechanic but i do know a little about wiring because i install car radios and amps for a living at circuit city but can not fid what is wrong .if you have any advice that would be great!!!i already had battery check out.

Take it to an Autozne or equivalent & they can check the battery & charging system, usually for free.

Your either going to have to get a new wiring harness or get out the ol voltmeter and start checking for resistance or shorts to ground, i would do this first just to save a little $. good luck

also ask the previous owner if they have had any problems similar to yours although you might get "No thats never done that to me before!" bs but what can you do. but they might give you some clues to whats going on

it kind of sounds like you may have a grounding problem or a constant drain somewhere. does it work fine, then after you shut it down..you're not able to get it turned over after a few hours?
