I am no expert but I don't think you will have any problems. My 97 has straight pipes but it has the cats. It has had the straight pipes for 30,000 miles with no notice of problems. Also my buddy has a 2001 chevy with same exhaust with no problems concerning back pressure.

I have open pipes...ie.. no mufflers or cats on my 88. Not a problem. I get a SES light now and then, but it's no worries runs GREAT! Sounds GREAT too!!!

I have the same thing as you Matthew, and to keep my SES light from coming on I bought the O2 simulators. Works like a champ :)
