ok whats the differnece in a evo and a GSX i know its got like 60+ more HP... but the same engine the only thing different is the compression ratio and the RPMs were the car makes the most torque and HP
Compression: Eclipse 8.5:1 Evo 8.8:1
Horsepower: Eclipse 210 @ 6000 RPM Evo 271 @ 6500 RPM
Torque (lb-ft): Eclipse 214 @ 3000 RPM Evo 273 @ 3500 RPM

The engine of the evo has the cams facing the passanger side. Eclipse body= smooth and sleek. Evo body= boxed and riced out. haha thats all i know.

The Evo uses the same basic design as our 2g 7bolt. As someone else posted they have the 16g Turbo, and they also run at a higher lbs of boost then our cars do.

Any DSM can be made to make the same power as the EVO. Fundamentally the motors are the same.

Put an EvoIII 16g on your car and tune it well, and you will be putting out horsepower comparable to or above what the Evo8 produces.

Evo is based on the lancer platform. Quite different. I don't know why you have a boner for the EVO8, put the same parts on the 2g and you have the same power. No need to reinvent the wheel. As far as I know the fastest EVO is in the 9s, and the fastest awd DSM is in the 8s. They both have the same potential, since they have the same motor.

i have a boner for GSXs i would just like a BRAND NEW 2g :) eventualy... i was thinking get a evo powertrain and frame and fabricate the 2g body over it... i know it would cost alot but would be cool to have a nearly brand new GSX...

Actually i believe there are 5 different models of the EVO8 .. 400hp, 340hp, 320hp, 300hp, and 260hp model. With the turbos being of different sizes.

I have never heard of this. I only think there are two versions of the EVO 8, the production models with the japanese restricted ~280hp in both JDM and american versions, and the WRC car if you consider that, which has who knows how much power.

in what country are we talking about. I know in the uk they have the fq300 that has 300hp and the evo 9 is suposed to have 300 to 350 stock but as far s 400 goes i don't believe so...

the mr is has lower center of gravity and 6 speed gear box and a little more tq than the evo and weighs less but it is still rated the same hp

Well thats my opinion.. sorry if i offened any1. The car looks good and all but ever since the evo and 2 fast 2 fur came out i see tons of civic with the same wing and a fake front mount intercooler. I ment to say, Evos make other peoples car turn into ricer machines.

That video posted above is impressive--saw it on Tuners. In any case, I completely dislike the appearance of the Lancer in every way. I think it looks like a boxy RC car. It just doesn't look sleek or intimidating in any way, IMO.
That said, its performance is fairly astonishing. But I'll take a 400 hp 99 GSX over an Evo8 any day of the week.

the lancer evo looks good from the front, but side and rear views are terrible. the rear wheel well and fender is structured and placed in such a way that even 18" wheels end up looking small and out of place. The rear looks small and toy-like, plus that huge rear wing on a 4-dr car doesnt look good at all. it performs like a winner, but IMO they need to clean up some of the designing. I wish they brought back the 4g63 in the new eclipses. that would be a blast.

Yea i dont know i sometimes like the lancer looks and sometimes dont....Its like it has bad days and good days like some kind of super model or something. Anyway, yea i really do think they need to redisign...first thing they should do is convert it into a 2 door, and make it a little less tall looking and fat looking and fix the doors....just imagine... it would look real nice.

i dont see the 4g63 making a return in the near future (2005-2008) ....the older 4g63 will never be back. but mitsubishi has the evo as the AWD turbo car. i dont see any reason why it would be smart for them to have 2 platforms of the AWD turbo ,from the bisness end of the spectrum...

yea the evo looks really bad and boxy because of its number one competitor....the STI...thats the only reason they keep thje turbo charged to the 4 door, which i think is pretty stupid...

They do in the US come with A/C and the sport meter kit, but only come in white or red. The RS is 200+ LBS lighter then the MR.

the 4g63 will most likely never be back in the eclipse do to the mitsubishi's concer of the up keep you need when the were running them, to many problems, to many concervatives complaing

the evo is a 4 door because it has been like that since its birth they cant just redesign it like they did the eclipse, otherwise it would piss off the whole evo community. I think it looks great(for a RALLEY car), you have to consider that ralley is its roots and its designed for that purpose, its not suppose to be as good looking as our cars. But i think i would rather choose a 400 Hp evo over a 400HP gsx anyday. There first prototype transmissions were so advanced that the factory ecu's couldnt keep up with them so they had to tone down the trannys capabilities.
But all said i would still never trade my Eclipse for one.
