I'm needing to replace the clutch and tranmission in my 91 5sp. 2.8L
Has anyone in here done either of these projects and is this something that I could do with a factory manual and the needed tools.
Let me know, I'd rather do this myself and enjoy the pleasure of cursing at a vehicle while my knuckles get all bloody and then experience the satisfaction of driving this beast for another 10 or 15 years then to pay a mechanic to do it in 10-15 hours and spend over $2,200.

hello
...i know a mechanic who offered to do my clutch for 400.00(parts and labor) i then picked up a tremec t5 tranny new for 425.00 shipping 85.00 extra off ebay and the mechanic offered to put it in for 150.00, much less than your quote ..try going about it that way .it may be cheaper to find one who can offer to install if you find a tranny on your own .. i own a 1992 rodeo 3.1 liter 5 speed 2wd ...the tranny should be the same ...they are formerly known as borg warner t5 for gm engines .if you live near sacramento id be happy to give the address and number.i hope this helps a little
