91 Transmission Problems

The synchro bearing (Spelling?) is giving me some problems and I'm pretty sure I need a new transmission and also a new clutch.

My question is threefold:

1) Have you replaced your own tranmission or clutch

2) Is this something that I can accomplish with some tools and a factory manual

3) Any last tips?

Man I must ask stumping questions or no one in here has had the need to attempt any of this.

I don't understand, from what you said, why you think you need a new transmission, why you think you need a new clutch, or why you think you are having trouble with a specific bearing.

Here's a tip - give us more information. I don't believe you actually need a new transmission.

Before I purchased this vehicle I had a Midas inspection and was told that they tranmission needs to either be repaired or replaced they also mentioned it needing a new clutch kit.

My friend and I are going to do it ourselves and he said that he's not sure if I need a new clutch but there is definately tranmission problem.

Any way in reponse to the last replier:

If you read my post again I ask two questions:

1) Have you replaced your own tranmission or clutch

2) Is this something that I can accomplish with some tools and a factory manual

- Trying reading the whole post next time and re-read before you reply.

kermit,
brian is very knowledgeable. he was just trying to pin-down the problem before advising. there's no need to get rude. please understand that with the info you posted, it's hard to ascertain what the nature of your problem is.
