Realizing How Slow It Really Is

Very long and not interesting, but im bored so...

Ahhh, Sneaking out. It's something all teenagers do at one point or another. Sneaking out to go joy riding, well that is a mental illness I do admit to.
Last Night, Cool, Windy, Good light from the moon. It's 10:30PM. Nothing is on TV. A Friend of mine is having a party. But im trying to stop drinking (for a special someone). I go into my room and turn on the PS2. I play Test Drive for a while trying to calm my need for driving. I loose 2 races to a Jaguar, Subaru Impreaz, and Prototype Viper. This game sucks. I pop in NFS undeground. Nah, Lets try NFS 3 hot persuit. Graphics suck. Pop in Driver 2. Its a good game. i take a ride in chicago and roll down to wriggley feild and get the hidden car. i take a few fast laps around chicago on the "interstate" toying with the police in the process. I end up finally killing my car. Now it is 11:20.

I get up and go get a snack, i notice i had forgotten to take out the trash. I also hear my dad snoring his face off. time to roll.

I grab the spare keys and grab the trash, i take the trash out then come back and open then close the door form the outside. i run over to the truck. i open the door and release the parking brake. push the clutch in and let it roll back, pop the keys in to unlock the steering. i roll it to the end of the drive way as far as i can (the drive way is a slight hill, too much of a hill at the end for me to want to waste time and energy pushing this 3400lb brick up) i crank it and put it in 2nd keep the lights off and start off, slowly dragging the clutch trying to keep the exaust quiet.

I reach the end of out neighborhood's road. i flip on the high beams and im off.

I cruse the town for about 20min. i took note of the gas guage, 1/2 a tank. then i decide to look for a race. Not much out tonight. but i find an 80's lincon towncar type vehicle with 20" spokes and dark tinted windows who wants to play. Probably v8 but i dont care. this truck is kinda of quick (for a 4cyl truck) from a roll. 30mph, cruiseing in 3rd i pull next to him, he honks then i drop it into 2nd, the road we are on is kinda windey, no hiding places for cops (except for the select few which you know to slow down for) and is really hilley (for florida). he honks 2 more times and i floor it. i put a good 2 lenghts on him immeadiatly, i hit 3rd almost perfect and hold him there for a while. Because i dont want to get caught i am sitting in the up close position that my mom seems to think she needs to drive in. this makes 4th a really hard gear in this position. i finally get it in and by now he has caught up to my back bumper. im flying a good 90mph. i shut down at 100 (never even got into 5th).

we go for it agian, this time on a really curvey/hilley section, so its all about skill now. 35mph, sitting in 3rd. honk, honk, honk. i floori t seing how well i will pull with out shifting down, we stay near dead even. there is a tight curve coming up, im going about 55. i heel toe downshift and nail 2nd like a master, from listening to this cars exaust and seeimg him take this corner. it seems to be auto and FWD. I love the feel of RWD oversteer. after nailing 2nd (setting up for the exit) i mostly coasted with just slight power through the corner at about 35. i starting drifting near the curve, no problem gave it some gass and it pulled back into line perfectly. The town car, however, started drifting with understeer and had to brake hard and turn sharp to keep from knicking me :lol: (thank god he didnt). i got ahead and pulled a good 4 lengths on him.

Next corner i dont nail so well, but im not worried, by then im holding 5 lengths on this guy. its all good.

Stop light. he pulls in next to me and rolls down his tinted windows and conpliments my corner. i thank him and ask if he wants to try from a stop. well, he says sure. this truck falls on its face in 1st. drag the clutch and it seems like it cant get out of its own way, pop it out and your tires brake traction. let it out smooth and fast and the damn clutch cant hold it, never a stall but it jerks you forward then back. no other manual i have driven acts like this in 1st from a stop. anyway i rev to 3500 and let it out smooth and fast up untill jsut past the friciton point the smooth it out as best i can. not that bad of a launch, just a little squeal. but he puts about 1/2 length on me, and then about 1 length, untill finally he is about 1 1/2 length and i hold him untill 90.

Rolling at 25 i roll down my window and he does the same, i say nice launch from a stop and i notice i is in fact an auto, and he laughs and says "i bet yo uwanna go back to the twisties" i laugh and say sure, we say out good byes then i slow and do a U-Turn.

now its getting late, i roll over to my friends party, no one there but a bunch of drunk whores and wasted guys trying to get with them... i leave, on my way home its a 2 lane road. i pull into a residential section but its 1:00AM. its 30mph but i cruise 45. 2 head lights come flying up on my ass. i swear if i had just let off he would have rearended me, thats how close he was following. i couldnt recognise the head lights. why? because it isnt a fast car. a Ford Escourt EX.

we finally hit a 55 and i bring it up to 65. he is still riding my ass. i drop it into 3rd and bring it up to 75 then 4th then 80. this guy is still riding my ass. i tap my brakes to let him know i am slowing down and then down shift to 3rd and engine brake to 65. then throw it back into overdrive. he still rides my ass. we get on a straight area where yo ucan see for a good 2 miles, no cars, he pulls in the lane next to me (where on coming traffic usually is) and rolls down his window, the conv wend liek this.

Me: Whatthe f*** are you thinking?
Him: Bitch its 1:00am there are no cops and no traffic
Me: you where ridding my ass at 80mph on a 2 lane road....
Him: i want to get home.
Me: you need to chill. your car isnt exactly perofmrance, thoes kinds of speeds are dangerous when operating in close quarters.
Him: and you think your car is fast?? :screwy:
Me: no, but then agian i wasnt ridding a pickups ass at 80mph, and even still im probably faster than you.
Him: wanna go then bitch?
Me: why not. from a roll 40mph.

I down shift to 2nd, sitting around 4,000 RPM, he does the same, i say "third honk." i honked once, twice, three times and floored it, i put 2 lengths on him. wait, he was toying with me, he drops in behind me for the corner, then on the next straight away (i slowed down to 70 for hte corner) he passes me like it is nothing doing at least 110mph. i try to catch up. but, alas, my road comes up. i shut the head lights off, pull into my drive way in 3rd at 20mph (<1,000 RPM) and then Neutral and cut the engine. coast in and park near perfect. set the parking brake and turnthe radio back up to where my mom had it. Im tired, i had my ass whoped 2 times. oh well.

Cliff Notes: I Spanked a Lincon Towncar thing in the twisties and from a roll but then got shown whats up from a dig. then a ford escourt murdered me relentlesly one a 2 lane road. passing me at probably over 110mph. and it wasnt even a flyby. he was able to go from 70-80 to that in seconds.

nice story. written very well. don't worry about the escort b/c no matter how fast he goes, he's still riving an escort :).

i hope no one here drives one cuz i don't want to get flammed.

haha...speaking of Ford econo-cars. There's one a few houses down from me, silver, teal body kit and a fart can. It's the most hideous thing I've seen in my life.

Either way, you were driving a 4-cyl pickup...nothing to be ashamed about.

SLEEPER!! that would be great to shimmy a nice sized engine into a geo metro! turbo and some exaust dampening and a quiet BoV and change the gearing ratio on it... just to get some better proformance... i bet a geo is about 2000-2300 pounds... find a way to get some downforce on the wheels and u will have a beast of a sleeper... paint it black with stock interior and u got urself racer

it just amazes me that an escourt could beat me. It wasnt even one of the old escourt GT's. do they make thoes things in v6's?
i wish i could have caught up to him to see wtf he has under there. i heard no turbo spool or supercharger wine. He had to of lived somewhere on that main road unless he lives real far out in the sticks.

oh and i found out gas stations have a rule. Pre pay or pay at the pump after 10:00. lol. I pulled in to the only open gas station in town. i was at about 1/4-3/8 a tank. a little less. I went to stick a few bucks of gas in there and some old lady comes running out of the convience store, i though she had stolen something. then she screamed at me telling me to come inside and pay before i filled up. being the ass i can be i told her to STFU i havent been driving on my own that long and this is the first time ive filled up after 10 o'clock. she procedded to tell me to pay now or leave or she will call the cops. if it wasnt the only gas station open with in like a 20mile radius i would have left. oh well. $5.00 and the needle was sitting just a tad above where it was when i first got in. the escourt fiasco took it down the rest of the way.

i better get used to slow cars. everything i find that is semi fast or that can be made semi fast but doesnt have super expensive insurance my mom says no to. ie s13 with SR20 swap. 2nd gen RX-7 with 13BTT swap. 3000GT VR4 (well insurance wasnt exactly cheap but it was affordable for just PIP and UM), and Datsun 240Z. well ive just about setteled on either an extended cab pickup (my original plans) or small SUV (so i can actually haul friends/girls around) soon to find out as my last soccer game is....

Man, you're always trying to tell other people how to drive and shit. I remember back when you were going on about how you told that guy in the lightning and the guy in the cobra not to race on such a crowded road...now you're asking some guy 'what the fuck are you thinking?' and telling him to 'chill' because he doesn't have a performance car. And this is just after I read how you were racing up to 90mph in a twisty/hilly area in a truck. Not to mention you pretty much stole your parents car to go race in, and you don't have a license apparently. I don't think you really need to be giving other people advice.

Well i wouldnt say perfectly, but pretty damn good. i tend to exagerate.
but it was damn good. and this can be acounted for for a few reasons.

I learend to drive stick when i was 13.
I practiced in my friends car every chance i got.
I Practiced in my uncles car every chance i got.
My mom bought this truck and everytime we go some where we always take the truck
Everytime i drive i practice things like that. Braking with the exact amount of force to come to a stop right where i want to with out varying pressure, heel toe down shifting when ever there is a speed limit change, Always shifting into the corect gear to come out of the corner before i enter it, not while im coasting around it. when im with my dad i always turn hard and sharp practiceing balencing understeer/over steer.
There is an empty parking lot (abbandond) not too far from my granparents house. my granparents also have a huge feild and stands of trees almost set up like a slalum corse. when we go over there and my mom is with us i know we will be ther for hours, so i ask if i can hold the keys and i go practice my driving.

Basically if parents would allow their kids to start practicing when they are 14-13 or even 12 instead of their first time driving being 15 in drivers ed. we would have alot more skilled teen drivers and less accidents. my first drive on a public road was when i was 12. my moms old auto caviler. on ruarl roads from my house to my grandma's house. since i have been getting as much driving experence as possible. for anyone who is under 16 and reading this, get as much seat time before you start driving and while you have your learners. you will thank yourself in the long run.

^^^ :eek7: as for you, do you really think it is smart to ride a pick ups ass with in inches at 80mph? do you really think it is smart to race on the day before thanks giving? would you want to have some escourt riding your ass at 1:00am? especially in a "stolen," as you put it, car? if you would, you need to have your brain checked out. both times you have bashed me. 90mph on an empty open road 5-6 feet from the other car. Not 80mph inches from the tailgate. i know my actions are wrong, but they are a HELL of alot safer than racing with 70mph jammed traffic or doing what this guy did. I told the escourt it wasnt safe and to get off my ass. i ASKED the lightning not to race in heavy traffic. You, however, are TELLING me not to do these things when I am thinking of my own and other peoples saftey. If anything YOU need to get off of YOUR high horse. End of discussion.
