last night i was with my cousin driving around in his 01 Rodeo when we stop at a stoplight. in front of us to the left there's this lambo. I'm like "dude, what kinda lambo is that? it looks like an older one"
my little brother says "i can't tell, i know it's a lambo though" and my cousin goes "no clue, let's find out..." we hear him rev.... i :grinyes: go "gun it" and he does.... lol.... we saw him like 3 miles ahead heh.

at the next light, he pulls beside us and my cousin yells "what kinda lambo is that?"

he goes "a 72 pantera" i go "awesome, that is a sick ride man" and he revvs again. i swear, i know nothing about lambos, but i liked that car... it didn't look 70ish... it was ... just well.. whoa.

update...

upon talking to my dad he was like "more than likely if he said pantera it was a ford... ford made one in 72" i'm not sure if it was pantera or something else that sounded like it (his engine was pretty loud)

Not exactly a Ford. It's a DeTomaso.

lol...
Indeed, Pantera's are NOT Lambo's. They were made by Ford, and sold through LINCOLN dealerships, and that's why they died as a marque...but anyway...
A Pantera is Mid-engined, RWD V8. Which V8, I don't remember...

I think I've seen that guy before. There was a Pantera at the drag strip in Irvington. I can't remember what kind of times it was running.. but I remember that it was pretty fast.

Regardless of being a Lambo or a DeTommaso...they are both still some sick ass cars.

You probbly sounded like an idiot to him... hehe J/k I can see how someone could mistake them, it does kinda share the lines of an older lamborghini, and it is a DeTomaso, Ford kind of team up with Mr. DeTomaso for the production of the Pantera (There are other cars by DeTomaso) and Ford at one point was going to import them, think it was 10,000 units they wanted to bring stateside, never happened though.
They are powered by a 351 Cleveland.

For those not familiar with the car....

Nice story man. I have seen a few Pantera's around where I live, but they are all "kit" cars, not actual origional ones. The origionals are pretty rare and pretty valuable. Good sighting.

My dad coulda traded his mustang for a pantera and 3k cash.
But the owned was a smoker.

Anyhow yeah they're very nice cars, 3 authentic ones in my area, 2 are in excellent condition the other one is thrashed, the owned should be shot.

My grandpa offered to buy my Mother a brand new DeTomaso Pantera back when she was about 17.

She sat in one at the dealership. He had the cash to buy it right there. Only thing was, she had to stay in highschool.

But, she got knocked up by her first husband and had two kids.

Of course, had she never done that. I woulda never been born...so it's best she didn't get that car. But that woulda been sweet.

Yepper, Pantera's had a bad ass 351 Cleveland with about 450HP and they did move. Between the insurance company's and the government, Ford gave up building them, and thanks to our great society, another one bites the dust.

Ain't America Great?
Don't worry After Ford stopped backing them he continued making another 1000 or so in Europe :)

O/T Anyone see the DeTomaso Concept cars from a couple years back?
