New Engine 2000 Cougar

So if you have read previous posts, I am the one who got the 2000 Cougar with a lot of problems. We changed the o2 sensors twice, changed spark plugs and wires, fuel pump and filter and still had no luck. Well I am a college student and my finals week was one of the worst to date. The last day, Friday, my car was really acting funny. I had just finished my finals and was going home to pack for a road trip (not in my car). Well I never made it... My car stalled and wouldn't start again. I towed it to the mechanic and found out that I sucked in a valve and blew the engine. So here is my question... What type of engine could I put in the car, that would still give me power, but not be really expensive cause I still have a semester of college to pay for?? This is a 2000 Mercury Cougar, that had the 6 Cylinders 155 L 2.5L SFI DOHC and manual transmission.
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED... I miss driving my car.
If anyone is located around northeastern Colorado and has an engine or may know where one is please feel free to e-mail me. [email protected]

3.0L duratec from a taurus/sable. Many people including myself have done it. Pretty much a straight swap and youll gain about 30 hp while your at it.

Theres a full list of FAQs and how-tos over on the cougar message boards (www.fastcougar.com) and the contour forums. (www.contour.org)
