e30 316 stopped starting

i've recently bought a old e30 316 and when i bought it it had been standing for about a year and a half . the battery was flat so i charged it and the car started but i found it was realy slugish.now it wont go at all. i have put new plugs in it and fresh peterol but it just keeps turning and turning bur it wont fire up . what can i do?

I would buy a haynes or bently manual and go to their troubleshooting section.I bought a 85 318i 3 months ago and I would not be enjoying the ultimate driving experience w/o it.
