I own a 1990 GTS-4 and I'm looking to move up to a GTR the problem is the only place around Misawa is over pricing them. Don't get me wrong I know 10K for a GTR should be a bargain but I also know they can be found for alot less than that the folks here just don't have any competition. So if anybody can help me down the path to getting a good deal on a GTR your help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some advice........you think the price is high because they are american friendly...........ha ha........hardly.....learn to speak Japanese.....I looked all over the place around Iwakuni, Hiroshima, all over. Any actually the Japanese car dealers prices were many times higher then the ones outside of the bases.

The people selling the cars are american. Anyway I found 4 GTR's for less than 8k a half hour away from Misawa.

I will put 50 bucks that you pay over 9.5k after taxes and fees. Japanese lots do not disclose their hidden fees in the sticker price.

try carsensor.net. here you'll find any GT-R from 100,000,000 to 450,000 yen.

Dragon GTR,

I purchased an R32 GTR from a Japanese auction in October. It had been repaired so not many people made a bid on it (so, it sold cheaply). I won the car for about $12,500 Australian dollars (950,000 - 1,000,000 Yen).

We didn't know it at the time of purchase but it had a broken oil pump, the engine and suspension needed rebuilding, the tyres need replacing (auction sheet said I had 65% tread front and 55% rears), and I will need a new gearbox in the near future because my 4th gear synchro is gone. The only thing that was wrong with it that we knew about was the exhaust needed repair.

I would suggest looking at spending a little bit more if I were you. GTR's are worth the money.

Not to mention the fact that most "cheap" GTRs are beat to crap. I went to several used car lots specializing in skylines, and it was a complete waste of time. The cars were either patchwork quilts, comprised of bad wiring and miscellaneous and poorly installed body pannels. Or these cars had bad collision damage that had been repaired poorly.

If you want a nice R32 GTR you will need to pay at least $10k U.S. You can always find one cheaper, but you will end up paying more in the long run. You get what you pay for.

My recommendation is find a good chain store used car dealer and have them search the Japanese Auctions. I like "Gulliver" personally, but there are many others like "Goo" and "Goo-net.com". I bought a mint condition Altezza Z-edition sight unseen. Recently I just purchased an R32 GTR sight unseen. Spent a little over $10k USD, but the car is sweet. I had several to pick from, and they get updates several times weekly with new choices.

I have pics of my old GTS-4 I haven't taken any of my GTR yet. By the time I get a digital camera we will have some for real snow on the ground and I don't want to take pics of it with those ugly @$$ winter tires on it.
