hey,
i posted this in the camaro forum, but it looks liek this would be a better forum to post so i guess ill just have to try here too. ok so i was sitting around the shop the other day cuz we were slow. someone said that chrysler was cutting costs on amplifiers by making the 250 and 500 watters exactly the same exept for a small factory solder which switches between the two. well, i figured that GM might be doign that for the 3800 motors. there are alot of supercharged and naturally aspirated 3800's, so maybe GM has forged pistons and whatnot in all the 3800's and i could just bolt on a super and have it last just as long as as if i hadnt put it on there in the first place. im just asking if anyone can tell me whether or not what im thinking is correct. i hope it is cuz then i can super my camaro. YAY! lol. aight, thanks for posting.

well it all depends on how much PSI you want to run. You should be able to run 4-6 PSI safely without getting stronger internals. As for GM doing that, i dont think they even use forged internalls in the factory 3800's supercharged. But if they did, they WOULDNT put them into the non supercharged 3800s' Forged internals cost alot more than a resister.

internals on the NA 3800's are different along with compression and various other things in it. I can't directly remember off the top of my head right now.
