I know this is gonna make me sound like some dumb redneck, but I'm considering installing a cb radio in my 2001 lumina. Anybody have any ideas where might be a good out of the way spot as to mount the brains of the system? Also I would like to put a PA speaker somwhere under the hood, any ideas? Thank you guys. yet again

I put one in my '97, went to the junkyard and got another ashtray, mounted the bracket to it, with the C.B. hung on it. Had two old mag mount antennas, took the bases off them, and put them inside the interior molding between the front and rear doors on both sides. Ran ground screws to the body, molding fit back on, with antenna from floor to headliner underneath. Stealthy! PA speaker should fit easy.

Aye, the ashtray is where I mounted mine. The 12v power drop was my permenant source of power, instead of running the cigarette lighter out from behind my radio and up to the outlet.

Good idea on the ashtray, and on the antenna's, one question, did you use two antennas, one in each side, or just one? with two, the wires might get a little thick, if you know what I mean. I'm into keeping almost everything concealed, as best I can. Not sure though where might be a good spot for a pa speaker, you know, I'd like to hide it, beings as they are (i believe) illegal where I'm from. Also it should be in a spot where it wont get full of snow in the winter. Thanks guys

2 antennas. They run off a Y-adapter to a single cable to the radio. You can get those at truck stops. Originally, I tried to see if I could get away with just 1 antenna, but the "shadowing" of the pillar in front of it made me fade out if you were to my left. But 2 seems to cover pretty well. Obviously not as good as having them out in the open, but for concealment, I can live with it. I'm not looking to talk to people in other counties, anyway. Just want to know what's happening up the road. A little velcro on the ashtray and dash will keep it from "walking" out.
