brakes again

Hi Again,
On my other post on brakes I mentioned that My brake light stays on, brakes are spongy, and when I press the pedal with the vehicle running the engine speeds up.
I pulled the rear drums, and found that the shoes were a little worn and I had a leaking rear axle seal. I changed the brakes shoes and the seals. I also adjusted the adjuster up as far as I could before putting the drums back on.
Here is where I feel really dumb, I have a 1991 C1500 2-wheel drive, I went to adjust the brakes, and I can't see any hole to get at the adjuster like most vehicles have. How the heck do you adjust the brakes? I wanted to adjust them up as far as I could so I wouldn't have to wait for the self adjusters to do their thing.
Thanks,
Bob

On the rear drum brakes, you just need a straight edge screwdriver, and you need to "push" the adjuster gear around (spinning it) until the shoes fit snugly inside the drum. Then they will adjust automatically.

Tirefryer is telling it right, Ive got an 89 k1500, theres no adjusting hole on mine either, take your scredriver and turn the adjuster, you know how to do the rest, that will take care of the spongy problem and the brake warning light if it came on with you. good luck.

Adjusting the rear brakes should take care of the problem(s). The brake light is triggered by an unequal front-back brake balance. It is probably because of your unadjusted rear brakes. However, I recently had reappearing problems with mine, and if the light stays on, you should probably bleed the brakes also. Of course, bleeding starts with the furthest tire from the master cylinder and so on. Any more questions, feel free to ask.
