Any reason to keep the air pump that pumps the air from the intake into the exhaust manifolds? Other than emissions of course, but does it actually help or hurt the car at all? And are there any plugs you can buy to install instead of the pipes that are currently there, or am I gonna have to make something...

I'd keep the pump on your car. If you remove it the check engine light will come on and your car might not run the same. If you remove the pump your O2 senors will tell your computer that somethings not right. You could probably have a custom computer done up to change it.

actually the air pump functions for such a short spurt that your engine wouldn't miss it and its job is to take fresh air and pump it into your exhaust stream but your car is in open loop when it takes place. SO it is not looking to the o2's for feedback and if the fuse is left in the underhood fuse box, No check engine light will come on if you remove the pump.

The quesion was kind of just checking to make sure I didnt screw things up too bad... In all reality I just forgot to put the bracket back on when I did my optispark, and no light came on and ran fine, so I didnt worry about it. I just dont like how the extra piping is still lingering in there... I have looked around, but it doesnt look like anyone has any plugs to go into the headers for after I remove the pipes. So anybody have any ideas? How about just cutting the caps off the pipes and welding the center part shut, sound like it'll work?

No need for all that, They make 22MM plug caps that 90% of auto parts carry. 96+ cars use a 18 MM plug. It may be listed as a oil plug. but just tell the guy what you need it for and I'm sure he will find it for you.
