Anyone thought about doing an Odyssey Engine swap?

Last time I was at the yard, there were a pile of Odysseys with there engines in them just sitting there with no parts taken off of them. Then the thought hit me, has anyone ever done an Odyssey engine swap? Yeah it's alot to say, but I wonder if it can be done in a crx? Actually, what kind of engines are in those things anyways. C's? G's? E's?

they are C series engines.....but its not worth it.....the amount of fabrication and labour to custom fit one....most people dont care to have the bragging rights of a Van motor in their street car....a B-series built and turboed would be just as cost effective with better power gains.....sure its more common....but most dont care about bragging rights if you loose a race to a more common engine.

I just think it would be cool though to ride around with a van motor in it. There would be braggin rights if you could get it to work correctly.

hmm anyone have some hp/torque numbers on those things? since there's a few just laying around somewhere maybe they're useable :D but aren't they too big to fit? lots of custom fabrication = lots of time and money, but the tradeoff is some extra power and uniqueness :)

i'd like to see someone try it lol, those minivans can go! imagine putting that engine in a lighter chassis!

they don't have a high hp rating do they?

Well the like 2003ish odysseys have somewhere around like 230hp. i think. Its the J35A1 3.5l sohc vtec v6.

Or are you talking about the older 4cyl odyssey engines? The 4cyl ones are basically an accord engine. Think there like th f23b2 or something and there somewhere around like 150-160hp.

Basically getting a odyssey engine into a civic is going to be almost as much work as putting a nsx engine into a civic. Not going to happen without a lot of work and dont be mad when you find out that the crank pulley hits the fender wall!!!

Ya, I'm sure people would really envy your van motor.

(and van trasnmission)

no doubt.....I'd be looking how to shift into 4th when all I'd have would be: L 2 [D] R P

i used to have one of those. i was running 20 psi on stock motor exhaust and intake and ran low 13s. Then I cut the exhaust off after the turbo and boost spiked to around 28psi then it detonated, whoops. it was fun though, kickin camaros and mustangs asses in a mini van

rofl, thats just as bad as killin someone in a station wagon :)

my questions on this swap are:

1. would it fit?
2. if it did fit, would you have room for anything else?
3. is it too heavy for the suspension?

only seen 4-cylinders swapped into civics, but having a 6 would be sweet :)

i dont think itll fit because ive seen a 02(?) civic with the nsx v6 and they had to run a fiberglass front end, and they have a bigger engine bay then a EF. youll most likely have to make it fit(fabrication).
if you manage to get it in there, i dont think youll have room for anything else.
the suspension can always be modified(pretty much new springs will help).

here are my comments on this swap.
If you have your own welder and a few bucks to spare on trial and error.. haul ass and do it!
i thought about a 88 legend witha a 5 spd oddyse tranny and 3.5 vtec motor but i thought a 79 cutlass would be ...OK?..(i guess) any way a supercharer from an accord will fill it as well as man accord aftermarket bolt ons.. by the way van motor or not its a 3.5 liter VTEC :fingers:

Hey guys, I'm new here. I just thought I'd chime in, on the thread. ...
I just looked up the specs on my Odyssey it's an 02 and it says 3.5L 240hp 242lbf.
I also have a 97 civic ex and a lot of fabrication experience. Not so much with cars though.

I would only consider doing the swap if I could mate the 3.5 to a manual tranny even if I had to source it from a third vehicle.

Is this effective? Can it helps to boost my car?
