My 1991 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 won't engage. I push the dash button, but hear no clicking (as I used to prior to the wheels locking), and the light next to the button does not come on. Also tried the the "Low" button with same results. Can anyone suggest what I check? Thanks

Hi, had the same thing happen yesterday with my '93. Read #137 "92 explorer 4wd problems" this morning, who fixed his by either tapping the shift motor with a hammer or spraying it with wd-40. So I did both this morning, then pushed the 4x4 button and at first heard clicking, tried a couple more times and it shifted into 4x4! And has worked all day. Wish the same luck to you.

I had the same clicking noise too. the 4x4 would engage but low range would not. then i had some guy tell me that to engage the low range you have to push on the brakes and hit the botton. that worked for me! good luck
