my friends car is having some issues.. it seems that if he leaves the car out in the sun and if the hood simply gets heated.. he has trouble starting his car.. sometimes not starting for five minutes.. usuall if he removes the radiator cap and then screws it back on it starts up just fine.. do you know what could be causing this?

It could just be that the radiator or something is getting hot and the car thinks that you have been driving it around overheated.... is the car black by chance? Black seems to have a connection with sun.:D That's my only $0.02 on it.

Well he told me its not overheating? His car is that silverish blue color (stock) Its not a dark color. I told him to replace the radiator cap or something maybe that could be it. Or yes it could be the starter as well?

I Dont know then. i was just saying maybe the radiator is getting direct sun and it's too hot to operate. It could also just be the starter like Trinity said.:(
