90 honda accord lx. Spark is very weak. Good running car when it runs.
I have at coil primary.5 ohms, 15.1 at secondary.I have 12v at middle and end terminals of ignitor,( with wires disconnected from ignitor), I have checked continuity from yellow/green (ecu) back to the ecu fuse under the hood. I have put 2 ignitors and a coil in. Still at this point when I put a test light between - and + off the coil, I do not get a light or a pulse.
I dont know how to test the ecu or the ignitor. Has anybody got an idea? The check engine light comes on and then goes out. According to haynes I have power at the ecu. When I crank the engine I get a weak yellow spark. It will jump the plug, but when I use a screw driver it will not jump an 1/8 of an inch to ground.
Thanx for your time

Could have a bad ignition switch. Hook a light between the positive side of the coil and to ground. Turn-on ignition switch-light should light, Put a meter across the light, should be 12 volts. If not, ignition switch problem. You can check to see if the ECU is pulsing, by hooking a analog meter from the ECU lead on the igniter to ground. As you turn the engine over, the meter should go from 12volts to 0 and back. If it does, the ECU is grounding the lead as it should if working normally.
The check engine light should come when the key is turned on then turns off. This is normal. Have you tried to check the stored codes to see of there are any??

I have 12v from switch. Would a part supply have an analog meter. What should the ecu read when cranking.
I have been trying to figure this out for three weeks, so any help is greatly appreciated .

Do you have 12volts across the bulb or just 12 volts without a load? It is important that the ignition switch lead be under load which is what the light does. The ECU just puts a ground onto the Igniter lead when the coil is supposed to fire. I recommend an analog meter because it has a needle that will respond faster to the loss or gain of voltage then a digital meter. You could use a small cp light or a led configured to work with 12 volts. It should go from lit to dark as the engine turns over. You might find a cheap analog meter at Radio Shack.
