New Shortblock or Rebuild

I have a 92' VR-4 and it has a loud knock coming from the lower part of the motor. I had the top end rebuilt over the summer, and it ran fine for about 150 miles before it started knocking really loud. I took the oil pan off and I had spun the #5 piston rod bearing. I spun it again about 15 minutes after replacing it. Im not for sure whether i should have someone rebuild the shortblock or if i should buy a new one, or the price differences. Does anyone have any suggestions on garages in the Houston area, or any ideas in general on what to do about my tragic situation?
Thanks
Thanks

hmm...if you do all the labor and pull the engine and things. i would take the short block to a local machine shop and have them rebuild. price for a short block rebuild go for about $500 with the stock pieces. i would upgrade to some ARP bolts and studs atleast while you are getting it rebuilt. then when they are done with that i would bring them the heads so they can machine everything prefectly so it fits together like new. there you go, $600 for a practically brand new motor. then just bolt it back in.
even if you have a shop pull the motor, i think this way will save you money on the long run.
good luck!!!

check your bottom end and see which one you got (2 bolt or 4 bolt) as it was split in 92. If you have the 2 bolt, i'd go get a 4 bolt, if you have a 4 bolt then just rebuild it.
